Insight Yoga – Yin Yoga & Buddhist Meditation

“Purifying the Body and Mind” with Sarah and Ty Powers

>>Registration in Japanese

This year-long online mini-course is led by two world-renowned teachers:
Sarah Powers — co-founder of Yin Yoga, and
Ty Powers — expert in Buddhist meditation.

By integrating Yin Yoga with Buddhist meditation, participants deepen their understanding of yoga, meditation, and pranayama.
Whether you are new to Yin Yoga or already a teacher, this program is open to anyone interested in cultivating physical, energetic, and mental balance.

What to Expect

In Yin Yoga, floor-based postures are held slowly and steadily. This supports the flow of Qi (life energy) through the fascia, organs, and bones. As energetic blockages soften, both the body and mind naturally settle into a state of ease and clarity.

The meditation component helps free the mind from repetitive thoughts and habitual patterns. Through releasing mental tension, inner stillness and insight can arise. When the body’s energy becomes balanced, emotional stability develops, supporting authentic meditation.

Throughout the practice, we gently explore the Buddhist teaching of the Three Forms of Suffering, not as abstract philosophy, but as direct embodied experience through Yin Yoga, breathwork, and meditation:

Japanese English Description
苦の苦(苦苦) Suffering of Suffering Clear discomfort such as pain, stress, or “this is unpleasant right now.”
変化の苦(壊苦) Suffering of Change The suffering that arises whenever something ends, shifts, or changes.
行苦(遍在する苦) All-Permeating Suffering A subtle sense of restlessness or “something should be different.”

We do not force ourselves to understand these through theory. Instead, we feel and recognize them through the living experience of the body, breath, and mind.
